MASTER ARTIST LECTURE – Gerard Tsutakawa

Thursday, June 23, 6pm

Pratt Studios

Gerard Tsutakawa is a sculptor: a three-dimensional visual artist, primarily creating sculptures and fountains which range in size from a few inches to 18’ tall. He works in various mediums including bronze, wood, stone, stainless steel, water and snow. He developed his own sense of style and design while having been an apprentice in his father’s studio and learning from him. In 1975, he co-founded Cicada Gallery, an arts cooperative in the International District of Seattle. Since then he has had many one-person exhibits and his work forms part of many collections - including corporations, local businesses, public agencies and private individuals. He is represented in Seattle by Foster/White Gallery and Friesen Gallery in Sun Valley. Pratt’s new sculpture center will be named in his honor.

 

 

MASTER ARTIST LECTURE – Kirstie Rea

Kirstie Rea is a full-time artist who lives and works in Australia. She taught for many years in the glass program at the Canberra School of Art and has also conducted workshops and participated in a variety of artist’s residencies. Rea exhibits widely, showing her three-dimensional works throughout the world. She has received many awards for her elegant, spare and soulful kiln-cast glasswork -and was recognized with an ACT (Australian Capital Territory) 2004 Creative Arts Fellowship.

 

 

MASTER ARTIST LECTURE – C. James Meyer

C. James Meyer lives and teaches in Virginia. He is currently a Professor of Art at Virginia Commonwealth University. Prior to his fifteen year professorship, he was an instructor there – his career beginning in 1973. He received his BA in Studio Art from State University of New York at Albany, and his Masters in Fine Art in Gold and Silversmithing from New York College, New Platz, NY. He has exhibited widely in the northeastern and east coastal US with additional exhibits in Arizona, Texas, Chicago, Il and Seoul, Korea.

 

 

 

MASTER ARTIST LECTURE – Seiko Tachibana

Thursday, August 18, 6pm

Pratt Studios

Free admission.

 

Born in Osaka, Seiko Tachibana did her undergraduate work and completed her MA in Education at Kobe University, Japan. In 1995 she received an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and has since garnered numerous awards and exhibitions. Her distinctive work balancing tradition and modernism can be found in the Los Angeles County Museum, San Francisco Fine Art Museum, and in numerous other museums and individual collections in California, Oregon, Hawaii, Louisiana, Arizona, New York and throughout Japan. MASTER ARTIST LECTURE – Fritz Dreisbach

Thursday, August 25th, 6pm

Fritz Dreisbach lectured and demonstrated in more than 139 institutions in Asia, Europe, and North America. He was elected a Fellow of the American Crafts Council and was awarded the 1993 Corning Museum of Class Rakow Commission. He is also the recipient of the Glass Art Society Lifetime Achievement Award for his “unique and significant contributions to the world of glass”.

More that 100 volunteers are needed to make this magical and meaningful celebration come alive. Whether you’re a spotter, runner, security, packer or helping set up or tear down, your volunteer time plays an integral part of this grand event. This is Pratt’s most celebrated and prosperous evening, and your generosity and hard work enables Pratt’s artists to practice, learn and thrive for years to come.
